Bad Goisern chooses BOXWALL BW52 for flood protection
The Municipality in Bad Goisern in Austria, have procured and taken delivery of 400 meters of NOAQ Boxwall BW52 to protect against flash floodings.
The municipality of Bad Goisern have invested in modern flood protection and will be deploying the mobile NOAQ BOXWALL system in the future. A total of 400 linear meters of the BW52 type , with a effective damming height of 50 cm, were officially handed over to the municipality's fire departments in July 2025. The goal is to be able to respond quickly and effectively to future heavy rain events.
The delivered modules were distributed among the Goisern, Weißenbach, Lasern, and St. Agatha fire departments to ensure comprehensive operational readiness. At the official handover, the system was demonstrated as part of an exercise – including the construction of a test channel for a realistic simulation of a flood scenario.
“The advantage over sandbags lies primarily in their rapid deployment and high flexibility – a crucial factor in sudden weather extremes.” - Claues Ebner, Fire Commandant, Feuerewehr Bad Goisern
The decision to purchase mobile flood protection systems was based on experience gained over the past few years. Bad Goisern has been repeatedly affected by heavy rain and flooding – the Weißenbach stream in particular regularly caused damage to infrastructure, buildings, and businesses.
With the NOAQ Boxwall BW52, a modern protection system is now available that can be deployed within a very short time in an emergency – without heavy equipment or complex ground anchoring.
